The combination of Xiaomi + Android One results in a killer budget phone
With the launch of the Xiaomi Mi A2, the company is looking to combine its own software with Google’s Android One project. In doing so, it may have created a budget phone for all markets. – Xiaomi has taken a somewhat unorthodox approach to creating the first Android One phone. Instead, the company is instead partnering with Google, which owns the Android operating system used on most devices. By putting its own software on top of Google’s, Xiaomi will be able to offer a more advanced experience than many other budget phones in the market today.
Xiaomi is looking to expand its reach in the United States and other markets where it hasn’t yet gained a foothold. The company’s Mi A2 is a low-cost Android One phone that’s aimed at consumers who want an affordable smartphone, but aren’t interested in spending more than $250 on one.
Should I buy the Xiaomi Mi A2?
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is not a bad device at all and it definitely has some good things going for it. It’s powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 platform that we’ve seen on other budget phones like the Moto G5 Plus, Honor 9 Lite or even the Nokia 5.1 Plus. That means that you’ll be able to multitask and switch between apps and games quickly and have no issues with lag or stuttering performance while doing so. The display is also decent although not as great as what you’d find on many high-end devices these days, but should still be fine for most users out there without too much trouble. The phone will ship with Android Oreo out of the box which gives you access to Google Play services along with various other features such as Autofill functionality in Chrome browser, App Shortcuts app integration, enhanced notifications system and more importantly:
What’s the difference between Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite?
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is a cheaper version of the Mi A2 and it comes with a smaller 5.5-inch display, lower resolution as well as less RAM and storage. The two models will ship with different software too: The Xiaomi Mi A2 has Android Oreo out of the box while the Mi A2 Lite will be running MIUI 9 on top of Oreo which means that you’ll be able to enjoy some additional features like Dual Apps for better multitasking experience, more customization options in themes and wallpapers, new Quick Settings panel functionality, improved Gaming mode for smoother gaming performance and much more. We’ve already seen quite a few rumors about when we can expect the device to go up for sale but there’s no news yet from China so we’re relying on leaked information here. It looks like it could hit stores by mid-June although many have mentioned June 30th or even July 4th as potential release dates. We’ll keep you posted!
Mi A2 Design & Build Quality
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is a pretty average looking phone that doesn’t stand out much but it does have some decent design elements and build quality to it. It measures 154 x 74.8 x 8.6 mm in size and weighs only 165 grams which isn’t too bad for a device of this size, especially considering its price tag as well as the fact that you’re getting a metal body instead of plastic one. The front panel is home to an LCD 5.99-inch display with Full HD (1080×1920) resolution, 403ppi pixel density and 18:9 aspect ratio while the back side gets exposed metal edges with rounded corners along with dual camera setup on top left corner where there’s also LED flash module built in. There’s no fingerprint scanner here though so keep your fingers clear when unlocking the screen or using it as a payment method! The sides are made of plastic while the bottom part has a textured rubber finish which gives good grip even if you’re sweaty or have wet handsf
Mi A2 Core Hardware & Performance
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 platform which has been used on other budget phones like the Moto G5 Plus, Honor 9 Lite or even the Nokia 5.1 Plus. This means that you’ll be able to multitask and switch between apps and games quickly and have no issues with lag or stuttering performance while doing so. There’s a 4GB of RAM inside along with either 32GB or 64GB of storage depending on your choice, microSD card slot for more storage expansion up to 256 GB if needed and a 3000 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 which can charge from 0 – 50% in just under an hour! On top we get dual 12 MP Sony IMX386 sensors with 1.25 µm pixels size (f/ 2.2 aperture) and dual LED flash modules for backside illumination, on the front side we find a 20 MP sensor with 1.12 µm pixels size (f/2.0 aperture) and an always-on selfie camera that supports 1080p video recording as well as video recording 4K video. In terms of performance, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is pretty fast even if you’re running few apps at once but it’s not something you’d want to use day in and day out since it has its limits which are definitely noticeable especially if there are many apps or games running in the background at once! It’s also worth mentioning that this phone uses MediaTek chipset so it won’t be able to run some heavy 3D games without breaking a sweat.
Hardware, Software & Battery Life
The hardware department is where the Xiaomi Mi A2 really shines! You’ll be getting a metal body with rounded corners and dual camera setup on top left corner that includes LED flash module built in. The back side gets exposed metal edges with rounded corners as well as dual camera setup on top left corner. On the sides we get plastic but it’s pretty smooth for a phone of this size, though there are no issues here either when it comes to grip or contact points so it should be fine for most users out there. Speaking of which, the home button sits nicely below the display and is made of glass so you can press down on this if you want to wake up the device from sleep mode, though we’d like to see what kind of screen protection will come along with such an option! The bottom part has a textured rubber finish that provides good grip even if you’re sweaty or have wet hands while taking calls or using other features like unlocking your phone. Also note that there
Mi A2 Display , Audio & Camera

The audio department is quite decent too since we get support for both Dolby Atmos surround sound via headphones (yes!) or through speakers if you want to use them instead. We also get support for HiFi formats like DTS HD Master Sound (up to 7.1 channel) and Dolby Digital Plus + TrueHD up to 9 channel over HDMI port 4 . The best part about this smartphone is that you get all these features without any issues at all which is pretty impressive since most low-end phones tend to struggle here! There are some additional features too such as 4K video recording at 30 fps along with 1080p 60 FPS option using Front Camera 2 app and we should also mention that there’s Beauty Mode too so now you know exactly why this phone has been named after a beauty queen
